TCRPC Welcomes New Executive Director

September 3, 2024

HARRISBURG – Andrew Bomberger, AICP, is the new executive director of the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC).

A 10-year employee of TCRPC, Bomberger succeeds Steve Deck, who retired at the end of August after seven years as executive director.

Bomberger said two of his top priorities for the near future are updates to the 2040 Regional Growth Management Plan (RGMP), which promotes economic growth and revitalization, and the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), which sets long-range transportation priorities for Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.

“My primary goal is to strengthen our relationships with local municipalities, partners and stakeholders to ensure the region is a safe and vibrant place to live and work,” Bomberger said.

Bomberger previously served TCRPC as a regional planner and as transportation planning coordinator, working closely with the Harrisburg Area Transportation Study (HATS), the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the three-county region.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Penn State and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University.

Founded in 1966, TCRPC provides land use and transportation planning for the three counties in the Harrisburg-Carlisle metropolitan area, which includes 103 municipalities and nearly 600,000 residents.

With a staff of 13, its primary programs include the RGMP, the HATS program, and staff support for the Dauphin County and Perry County planning commissions.
