SAFE STREETS FOR ALL:
In January 2020, the HATS Coordinating Committee adopted a motion to work toward reducing and ultimately eliminating crashes that result in fatalities and serious injuries in the region.
We then secured an FHWA SS4A Safety Action Plan grant to enhance and continue our safety and equity efforts.
The resulting Safety Action Plan, with expected completion by summer 2024, will make HATS eligible for additional federal funds so we can implement a multifaceted approach to making the region's transportation system safer.
As part of our ongoing stakeholder engagement and outreach effort, TRCPC will continue to work with PennDOT, county emergency management agencies, local municipalities, neighboring MPOs and the public.
The safety plan and its resulting implementation efforts will be integrated with statewide safety initiatives and other MPO programs.
HATS SAFETY APP:
Now with crash data from 2018-22
This GIS-based application takes publicly available data from PennDOT’s Pennsylvania Crash Information Tool (PCIT) and puts it in a format that can be easily visualized and analyzed.
It includes filters such as county, year, or accidents involving attributes such as aggressive driving, speeding, alcohol, deer, heavy trucks, fatalities, serious injuries, etc.
